Attend the North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Activities and Attractions
The St. Patrick’s Day festivities begin bright and early on Saturday, March 17, 2018, on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. The parade will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with a Grand Marshal, traditional bagpipes, drum bands, and leprechaun costumes. After you’ve watched the parade pass by, check out the three stages featuring live music or any of the vendors selling authentic Irish food and drink. There will also be a children’s area with rides and amusement park games, making this festival a great family-friendly activity! In total, over 150 vendors will line the street to display crafts as well as delicious goodies and treats. Guests can enjoy all the action from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Contests and Competitions
This year, the public is invited to compete in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival Leprechaun Contest! Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, appearance, enthusiasm and energy. Simply register at the Main Stage at Flynn’s Irish Tavern before the contest begins at 2:00 p.m. The winner receives a $100 gift card to WalMart, an event t-shirt, and a souvenir!
If creativity isn’t your strong suit, enter into the Shepherd’s Pie Eating Contest. The first person to clear their plate using nothing but their mouth (no hands allowed!) wins bragging rights and a plaque designed by Coastal Engravers. This contest begins at 2:30 p.m. so come hungry!
Tips & Parking Info
Spectators gathering to watch the parade should be in place by 8:20 a.m., as Main Street will close to vehicular traffic promptly at 8:30 a.m. and the parade will begin at 8:50 a.m. Main Street from Ash Street to Ocean Blvd. will remain closed after the parade and become the festival area.
