How to Plan a Dog-Friendly North Myrtle Beach Vacation

Spend Some Time on the Beach

It should come as no surprise that the shoreline is the main attraction for visitors to North Myrtle Beach. When compared to our neighbor to the south, our beaches are less crowded, cleaner, and more kid-friendly. Plus, when you stay in one of our gorgeous oceanfront pet-friendly rentals in North Myrtle Beach, you won’t have to travel far to get to the ocean! If you’d like your four-legged friend to join you for some time in the sand or the water, you’ll need to brush up on the beach rules. Be aware no dogs are allowed on the beach from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the summer season (May 15 to September 15). During the off-season, dogs are allowed at any time of the day. Your pet must always be on a leash, with the maximum permitted length at seven feet. You must also pick up and dispose of any waste.

Explore McLean Park

McLean Park is a fun adventure for the whole family! Your pup will enjoy exploring the walking paths, and your kids will love the two playgrounds that (together) are suitable for almost every age group! If you feel like partaking in a moment of zen, head to the Meditation Garden or enjoy the view at the gazebo, which overlooks a two-acre lake. Like with the beach, dogs must remain on a leash at all times in McLean Park.

See the Sights at Barefoot Landing

One of the most popular shopping centers in North Myrtle Beach is Barefoot Landing! It’s home to plenty of great stores, fun attractions, and a beautiful boardwalk that overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway. It’s also a great place to bring your dog for a fun walk. You’ll love the gorgeous views, and your pup will enjoy the change of environment. Be sure to stop by Faux Paws, a cute store that caters to dogs and the people who love them!

The Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants in North Myrtle Beach

Molly Darcy’s

Enjoy Celtic cuisine at this fantastic restaurant! Molly Darcy’s is serving up delicious Irish food, cold beers, and some great cocktails, all within view of the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean. If you’d rather something a little more modern, try the Irish Nachos: crispy corn tortillas layered with corned beef, sauerkraut, scallions, and a cheese sauce. The outside patio allows dogs so don’t miss the chance to enjoy some delicious food at Molly Darcy’s!

Bully’s Pub and Grill

Bully’s Pub and Grill is serving up some scrumptious sandwiches and sides plus 32 drafts! It has no-nonsense, unfussy food and allows dogs at the outdoor tables. Bring your appetite because you can get some big bites here! Try EL Toro, which is a thick burger loaded with grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon, lettuce, tomato, covered in Swiss cheese. You can also grab some delicious chicken wings tossed in your choice of sauces. Top it all off with a refreshing beer. You can’t go wrong!

O D Lounge

If you’ve never visited this North Myrtle Beach classic, what are you waiting for? The O D Arcade and Lounge is the place to go for great food, dancing, music, and fun games. The outside cafe is dog-friendly and is a great place to enjoy O D’s wide variety of menu items. From crab cakes to fried pickles, you’ll find plenty of Southern classics here.
