In 2012, the Springmaid Pier made the Top 20 list of MyrtleBeach.com’s “101 Don’t Miss Things To DO in Myrtle Beach.” They were not kidding when they gave the pier that ranking. The longest and most accommodating pier, Springmaid pier stretches 1,060 feet long by 36 feet wide and features a 110-foot “T” at the end. This Myrtle Beach landmark is the site of numerous fishing tournaments and offers one of the most stunning views of the entire Grand Stand on the beach!
The Springmaid Pier has it all, from shops to restaurants. While you kick back and enjoy the superb fishing spot, the family can wander around the adorable shops the Grand Stand has to offer, right off the pier. Take one evening to enjoy a long walk down the pier as the sun sets over the ocean. Sightseers and avid anglers alike line the pier to enjoy the great views of the vast Atlantic Ocean!
For you avid anglers out there, large catches are not uncommon at Springmaid Pier. The Pier boasts the state record for Spanish mackerel and other species of fish. The Pier also hosts a series of fishing tournaments, including the prestigious Grand Stand Fishing Rodeo that is held along the coast. Winners of the Tournament are awarded a cash prize, plus the ultimate prize of keeping what they caught for free. You will have the opportunity to catch a variety of sea creatures while on Springmaid Pier, including bass, flounder, trout, Spanish mackerel, and more. There is a general admission for anglers. It is $6 a person. This covers a “day pass” fishing license and permit. For those not fishing, it only costs $1 per person to just take a stroll or to munch on a meal atop the pier at one of the many picnic tables.
The Pier also features the BARnacles Bar and Grille, a great restaurant and bar with an oceanfront patio. Take in the beautiful view while enjoying one of the many fresh seafood plates the restaurant has to offer. One of the specialties at the Grill is the hand-dipped ice cream, a great treat to enjoy in the summer heat.
